I’ll delete this if it’s a repost but I’m behind on my @simrellcollection elephants and I think this is one from lead customer service @vaped2space or perhaps someone in his family. I have at least 4 more elephants I’m behind on posting. Not trying to get anyone’s hopes up as there’s at least one that doesn’t look like an elephant and another pooping. This elephant came from @machine.wash.cold who got a free #VonG from @dynatography which had a midsection break. I replaced their midsection with one from a free #VonG that I got from Will of @dynavap fame along with some pencils. Awhile back I got a few elephants and forgot to post this one. This was done by @marisalerew who also sent a modified pen, the cool as hell old Sanford ink bottle, the left handed notebook. That one. I think Marisa is a seismologist or something like that. There's certainly a sexist joke like "it only makes sense that women would be good at taking notes about faults" but I try to keep this fairly wholesome. The use of existing shop stationery and materials has really improved my scores for these. This is on the back of a small pad that feels like cheap 20# bond paper but they just rolled with it and made the best of the situation. This is a pretty great elephant, but just quickly outclassed by the other #sharpieart elephant due to lack of toes. It’s easy to go overboard on toes as we’ve seen with some of the seven toed elephants, but it is prudent to put three toes up and if pressed say “the rest are on the other side”. @madheaters does what Dynavap hasn’t done with several things, but most importantly this elephant with the #vapcap on its trunk. I suppose some of their other inventions such as the temperature sensing induction heater or ridiculously nice stem with novel cooling system are more commercially viable than the elephant drawings, but this is my focus. So this showed up today and since they don't have social media I don't think that's even easier. I do like all this stuff. The stamp makes me think of @jakeandamirofficial #wherethewildthingsarent but anyways there's a few elephants and a @pokkapens with the ass chopped off of it and surgerized onto a cap to make a two assed #pokkapens for those who want more asses on their pen without going full Mephesto for five asses. They included two #lefthandednotebook which I assume is gonna be a pretty weak hashtag. This Sanford ink bottle is super duper old. Oh yeah the elephant appears to be blowing a raspberry out and taunting this alligator or perhaps crocodile. I don't usually try to do much fact check on these, but at a cursory glance this would be the kind of thing that seems implausible to me to occur in nature. This is the last of the @cannabishardware710 elephants and none came labeled for which artist did which so I'm gonna credit this one to Edwyn. These guys got their started making implantable medical titanium parts but obviously all machine shops crank out some amount of #cannabishardware and these guys just focus on that. It's a good thing because you can put shit like recycled soda bottle caps into your body nowadays that's probably not a good idea but FDA approved. This is my favorite @cannabis.hardware elephant and it's got kind of a perspective thing that's just working for me. This would be like the Max Vapor Tsunami of elephants. I got this elephant with a bundle that didn't sell at a Florida thing for 4/20 on the cheap. The waterpiece that they sent was a former @newvape710 model for some of their products, such as this whip adapter if you're sliding between photos. So @jscheuerman did an elephant for @fisherbrewing that was awesome and I sent him some @pokkapens pens to several months back. Of the 39 people I sent pens to and asked only for an elephant this is the best reply of the bunch. It's not even really close but I may post a couple of the runners up. I included how I've used Josh's elephant in the past and it's a good thing I don't pay royalties on my elephants because the #fisherbrewing elephant is royalAF. I'm already long on this write-up and this is I think my first mammoth if you're keeping track of the various kinds of stampies. Check out Josh's Instagram. He's one of my favorite people I've ran into in this hobby and I've told a lot of people when calling them to thank them for their elephants about what a great guy Josh is, which is probably an asshole thing on my part, but I'm not actually thanking people either. @dynavap is always good about drawing me an elephant. I put in a note to see if they were include a teabag since I’m running out of ideas what to ask. They sent a picture of a tea bag, which is okay. George and @loribreiwa do a weekly segment every Sunday at 8:30 P.M. GST (George Standard Time) where they collect user feedback and announce things over tea. This came with the @300sunsbrewing (I hope I’m remembering right) elephants and didn't look as stylistically perfect as some of their other work, but since I only got 1/4 the normal response rate on this last round of letters is still probably a $75 elephant. It's important to be thankful for those who do participate and not worth my time to focus on those who didn't. Alex of @puffitup just sent in an unmerciful assault of dad jokes or puns or whatever this homophone is. I didn't grow up with a wholesome enough family to appreciate these as my first jokes were bar jokes and other problematic 80s jokes about Nancy Reagan losing a tit and Michael Jackson's hair catching on fire. I first heard this joke in the early 90s in 5th grade from our teacher and when no one laughed you could watch a little of her die on the inside. I get asked with unsurprisingly frequency if I get a lot of free beer from this hobby. Short answer: never. Long answer: the other photo is the closest I came with the exception of one distillery offering to send me a bottle of liquor. My other #postitnoteart from @10barrelbrewing came from 🖤Moo and I would say was probably a Pilot G2 or some similar .7 hybrid ink affair in terms of a pen. Sort of a lot going on in terms of number of pen motions with a pretty good judgement call with the eyes to create that happy look rather trying something more elaborate and having poor results. I've always said discretion is the better part of valor, but never bothered to look up what that means. I'm gonna hope for the best and hit post. Jeff put together a really fantastic #postitart elephant with what appears to be a @sharpie Ultra Fine Point that replaced the Extra Fine Points that were actually good. Jeff hasn't given up on the Sharpie yet even though it appears the Sharpie is about to give up on Jeff, which is a little bit sad. This is really close to where I count it as a photocopy but my first elephant posted by @hammerspringdistillers owner who is a class act was most likely also done digitally. @10barrelbrewing had their digital marketing manager draw this elephant. @hannahreneebarnett did a fantastic job with marker that matches close enough to the spot metallic on the paper. I'm not quite sure what that job entails but I imagine it is a lot of working with people who don't understand graphic arts and being sort of the glue between marketing and creative without really fully being part of either. @fossilcovebrewing out of Arkansas drew this elephant. This is super out of season as I last mailed more than 5 months ago, but just like last year my responses back can take 9 or more months. With artistry like this you cannot rush or take shortcuts or the true depth of the work will never be fleshed out. I had the other drawing explained to me and it's got some Fench stuff going on which I don't understand nor did I really make an attempt to listen. Okay this was from Alex at @headlessmumbybrewing and I believe represents the Mumby portion of their business. Since this elephant was on the top of the stack and had the note I’ll assume this is Alex’s work. They are all pretty different with some elephants having eyebrows or lashes, but this has none. @jonescreekbrewing makes #beermoochingelephants explain the whole process of brewing beer in order to get free drinks. Elephants are naturally quite adept at explaining saccharide chains (and really more over any carbohydrate), so they added some geometry. I’ve got a serious love for ink stamps and they got everything right here somehow and I very rarely say that when I get anything #prioritymail as that usually means they don’t know how to mail stuff. Not the case here. This thing is huuuuuuuuge and the priority wasn’t just some #proudpapa moment where they are overprotecting some lame drawing and I need to bite my and resist the urge to show the world that my mom taught me how to be unappreciative. This was the best way to ship and contained only the letter, drawing, stickers, and some boards from #amazonpackaging to secure the whole thing. To add to their aggravation I started really thickly about the elephant thing, which Evan totally obliged with. Hoban is a commercial printer and I worked 15 year or so for a commercial printer, which makes stuff like this just always charming to see and I've seen an insane number of business cards from commercial printers, paper vendors and the print industry's various other vendors. His print is really solid and the cards are awesome. Cindi really did a great job for @greenstarbrewing and I accidentally sliced her elephant in 1/3 with my knife but the scanner did fine with the two pieces together that I don't want to do anything else. It took me a minute to figure out that @uncommongroundchi is a thing and Greenstar is like part of it. At first I thought contract brewer, but I think this is like #davidpumpkins and is #itsownthing in Chicago and has a nice facility and pizza's. Okay so this is the prized piece I think of all @thewaystation elephants 🐘 This #TheWayStationDayStation is a #twofertuesday on a Saturday as both day 22 for the front and day 26 for the back. The artist is @galusaurus who is just amazing. This one is in the showdown for the top three best I have in my collection and I'm truly honored to own this one. It's really the prize of my collection, though sentimentally I like others more (including a trunk only piece she also did). She did some art including the #starwars #sarlacczerac illustration from #cocktailguidetothegalaxy which is pretty close to a drink that was popular at @grendels_den when I went there ages ago and is a #gentlemanscocktail aka #shitton of #booze which are charming if you want all the frill and fuss of a girlie drink but more like oak candy. Also the book showed up and here's some terrible photos that prove I own it but don't spoil the content. It's actually a fantastic book and pretty much the exact same thing as #mulesandmore book in style but actually good. It's not the first shot by any means at a drink recipe book but it's kind of holy hell out there good. I looked through their Instagram or something from when they were finishing the book up and I failed to realize the thing is an insanely professional book. In the course of thumbing through that I saw they also closed down due to COVID-19 permanently as that shit's unworkable for where they are in Brooklyn for a long time. So Annie🙂 at the local @pizzahut drew two elephants on the box. I haven’t ordered from them in a long time on account of the food only being acceptable when you’re starving or hammered and preferably both. So let’s focus on the positive in the elephant. It’s a very small silver elephant but looks to be drawn at a big scale as I get the two pizzas deal because with Pizza Hut it’s 50/50 gonna be awful so two pizzas is just hoping you don’t get tails twice. Okay so I'm kicking around getting some pens printed and started the process with @paper_mate who is part of Newell, but I think the big entity as Sanford is mostly known for Sharpie and Sharpie sort of tries to be #itsownthang They sent me samples which came from Tennessee where a lot of #papermatepens are made including like the InkJoy Gel in .5, which is currently the best gel pen on the planet. These guys also are part of the same company that owns @parkerpen @sharpie @rotringofficial and a bunch of other stuff on the higher end I've got stuff from. Either way, they came up with a grey version somewhere and they are sort of available and not available kind of thing. You can get em in like one multipack and I've never tried one but I love their other stuff and elephants are grey. I'm ready to wife up some InkJoy gels if they let me, but they have other stuff I like and I'm not above getting more Pokka pens or another vendor. They are potentially gonna print #drawmeanelephant grey #inkjoygelpens which is like a super exclusive for me as the only place outside of a multipack. It could be huge and @newellbrands sometimes is good with their branding but also have to make money so may not piss with it even if I can talk Runnermaid and Goody until any human being is completely sick of the conversation. So, probably leaning on this Sharpie S Gel if not as it's the new new thing. The refill isn't interchangeable with anything as far as I can tell, but it's an ultrapremium pen in the same class as the big dogs from Mitsubishi and Pentel with a lot of style. Not getting my hopes too far up as it may be too expensive to want to risk it as I'm already pretty deep in this idiocy. #penreview in photos and effort typing this post and doing the photo work about the same. Okay so @rhinelanderbrewery obviously has #beermoochingelephants like all breweries and instead of making them do tricks they just send them out to fish with the #hodags who are everywhere around there. Hodags and elephants are natural born fishing buddies and it works out okay other than takes quite a few beers. This drawing almost was disqualified as I don't take photocopies. It did have a signature done in pencil rather than a photocopy of the signature, so I think that makes this like an art print that I can accept. Hopefully they send the original too as I'll probably need that if this elephant wants to become part of the actual collection. I threw away probably in the top 3 nicest elephants I've received for a photocopy the other day and the place said the guy doesn't give out originals. Maybe when finding an elephant artist make sure they will give you the elephant and not just send you a picture of it it. I want whole elephants and not elephant copies. It's nice to meet two amazing people who just really seem to care and have a heartwarming dynamic that just makes you feel good about the world. All nice things aside, not really trying to roast Jon, but I have probably gone with multiple elephant authors and maybe tried to sneak that one into a herd of others. @brbrewpub really came through. They have been around since 1990 which is really huge if you know anything about brewing laws in America. That puts their #30yearanniversary this year if I read right, but I didn’t like fact check that. If you consider some huge players such as Rogue, Sierra, etc. who were pretty early to secure funding and do the paperwork just got their 30 years not long ago it is a pretty big deal just being that early. Obviously staying in business is important but starting in a time where no one wanted craft beer in Indiana where booze is like 3¢ per half gallon is huge. Every filter I try on this thing doesn't give it justice for cuteness. Belinda from @kinkaiderbrewing drew this elephant in like a hundred dozen pens and if that sounds like an implausible amount I already didn't count. My scanner doesn’t do this neon highlighter justice. @192brewingco sent in this bright pink elephant butt and did a wonderful job. You can absolutely never go wrong with elephant butts and it eliminates the need to deal with eyes, trunk, tusks, and all of that. Okay so I said a few times that I expected this terrible paper to backfire on me and get crappy elephants. So far been completely the opposite and this little cutie isn’t going to ruin the streak. @stelmobrewing did this one and included a sticker, which is always nice as I have a dedicated #stickerbook for the hobby. I think this elephant was supposed to have a body but the artist didn’t put one on for lack of space. When I write for elephants I don’t necessarily expect a #picasso back, but it’s totally cool when they do! Jon of @portcitybrew had the task of drawing and produced a replica of a Picasso. Perhaps not like 100% the same value but functionally I’d say it’s 95% or better. They included an additional elephant I’ll post later as well as a poem on the reverse side of this piece, which I’m hoping doesn’t slaughter this thing’s value when I take it to @roadshowpbs later down the road. I gave away all my pens I won to people in their @pokkapens Facebook group in exchange for elephants. Everyone said they weren’t very good at art but would try their best. This is a totally valid move drawing someone else’s elephant and considering they also mailed stamps the whole thing cost me $1.05. It is basically two free elephants. You can’t just expect people to come up with two of their own original elephants for three pens. If you find that source of creative talent I’ll gladly reorder more pens. @hangar24brewing requires all elephants to complete a solo transatlantic flight in order to get free beers. As I've said numerous times elephants freeload booze and breweries come up with two tricks for elephants to pull to earn the beers. Preach! This elephant came from El Paso, TX and maybe was one that didn’t have the note in the letter about identity beyond the postmark. I used to have a note to make sure to clearly identify, but I cut a significant amount of information in favor of an #intentionallyleftblank page and didn’t keep close track on who got the ones with information or nah. I’m going to assume it’s @aurelliasbrewery as they were most likely of the 63 #texasbreweries I wrote. If they don’t claim it in 45 days if someone from Texas wants to give me their name I can scribble it on and that’s way easier than drawing your own. EDIT: Will did this and he brews beer for them. So I won the @pokkapens contest for their 25,000th order through some creative use of store mechanics. Some would call it an exploit but either way I committed myself to winning before the prize was even announced. The prize turned out to not be any of the stuff I wanted and instead was 100 custom pens. @loralrose was on @reddit /r/pen_swap trying to buy some decent lower end fountain pens. I ended up making the sale and was paid in elephant drawings. They asked if it was okay to do a painting to which I replied I don't give a shit and am only vaguely lukewarm on elephants to begin with, so whatever is clever. @dynavap drew me another elephant and the artist was embarrassed by their elephant drawing skills as a graphic designer. Being a graphic artist having worked with several designers I’d say that’s not uncommon. I’m not sure if they did the illustrations or picked out the lifestyle photography that was on the website years ago. Either way, that is an elephant and what appears to be a very small pig. Mail was late so #woodscentswednesday got moved to a Thursday for me. Ed of @eds_tnt_ seemed to ignore my requests for elephant until now and included this elephant with my rebuilt #woodscents that's an absolute champion of a device. Ed takes mostly rare woods from all over the world and makes little things to make people's lives better. It's an interesting concept doing what you actually love for a living and finding enough people who enjoy it to put steaks on the table. I absolutely love that Jaxon was able to get an elephant in out of a ninja turtle. I am always super excited when the #brewerykids drawings come in. Also this had an awesome note that I think was a pad that had maybe @minniemouse or @hellokitty on it by the die cut, a $2 off of a beer, and some stickers. The whole thing came with 2 $1 stamps on it. I ran in @thekarmakids_childrensbooks in Vegas and asked them to draw me an elephant because they were doing a painting and I'm the worst kind of person who makes everything about me. I ended up getting his card and a few days ago these showed up. I think the one that isn't an elephant is like a collection of a bunch of stuff people would want on one of these backgrounds. @strikebrewingco v absolutely knocked it out of the ballpark with this elephant by @drinksanjose who is about to knock it out of the ballpark it looks. I'm not sure what the motion lines are on about but this was done in a nice sturdy marker like a @sharpie with a fatter tip like the industrial. Okay so we have a situation with this elephant. He’s out of beer and his author didn’t put a brewery name on the elephant or the envelope. This elephant is from the Seattle area based on the postmark and in one of my official draw me an elephant envelopes. Seattle had RAM and Standard, but I wrote 47-49 Washington breweries in the last month. Either way, I would consider this elephant out of beer by my standards or almost out of beer by any standards. Would like to know who drew it so I don’t just assume he wants a NEIPA when this elephant is trying to watch its glycemic index with a seltzer. Okay so I said @fisherbrewing sent some other stuff and I think that’s called foreshadowing, which makes the rest of this shadowing. The sticker has a drop shadow on the whole hop and fish, which for some reason looks really good. I’m hoping they got “Drop-shadows. A Guide by Martin Buchanan”. The elephant is on some next level stuff and it’s kind of hard to describe. I will say that the shadows aren’t really aiming for realism even though this elephant is setting a much more reasonable standard of beauty compared to some of these model elephant types. Two things here: eyes are really hard to draw compared to glasses and @endlesspens has ridiculously cheap gold nibs. The Z53 steel nib is supposed to be softer or somehow a different writing experience than Z50, Z51, and Z52 nibs. Okay so first brewery from Montana to draw me an elephant goes to @highlanderbeer and it's a really good one. Everyone knows elephants are really strong but the head breweries, Gary, knew that the true measurement of elephant strength is the Trunk Strength Index Ration, or TSIR for short. This is one of the strongest elephants I've seen judging by the thinness of the trunk and knowing a glass picture weighs 83 ounces full. Last of the @nutsnboltsbeer elephants and it was done in a really light pencil. Just going to throw out that @apsarapencil_ Absolute is probably cheaper an upgrade over whatever pencil they used and scans in much easier. They are like $6 on Prime and come with a sharpener and an eraser (which I don't use as that means admitting my mistakes, another big reason contributing to me not being able to maintain a committed relationship). When I saw someone offering drunken Christmas cards I jumped at the opportunity and asked them to draw me an elephant. I like these minimal ones and you are almost guaranteed one when you have a bunch of people drawing elephants. One of the better I've seen and the two dots worked for bringing the whole thing together with nostrils. This helps prove to draw a great you don't need to have a cyborg elephant invasion, a psychopathic decapatatrix beheading Jon Arbuckle, or an elephant sniffing its own poo while a Teletubby watches in horror. My most asked question by people I meet in person about my hobby is "where do you put all these elephants?" as though they take up tons of space and my house is full of elephants. Well in October I moved to huge envelopes and am just finishing 500 now and here is the box of every elephant save 2 I've got along with a Pizza Hut medium box lid for scale. My friend Nicole asks me why I don't do a better job tracking and documenting this and maybe the grace that I just realized this costs me more than my cellphone bill, water/sewer, and trash combined is part of that. Everyone has different tastes when they go to breweries and part of what is great about many breweries is they have something for everyone's tastes. I'd best describe these as being like the session beers that the bartender is recommending like alcoholic @tinder and they know if I don't see above 6% I'm swiping left (assuming left is the pass option in Tinder and I'm 99% sure of that because my dog has a Tinder). These were all also from @nutsnboltsbeer and there are about 5 more that I haven't posted and I don't like to reveal too many spoilers, but not one is like the time I went to @cambrewingco and ended up with a barleywine that was off the menu and where the server sort of apologizes that it may be no good and let her know and it's yes good and you want to let her know that you've found love but there isn't any more love so you have to spend the next almost decade thinking about how good it was and how the barleywine at @brattletheatre wasn't the same the year after. I really don't know where to begin with @newenglandbrewing and their elephant. This has a nice dark #imsorryjon feel to it and it's painfully obvious that even if the artist doesn't know what they are doing they certainly know how, as the crosshatching shows this isn't anyone's first descent into madness and highly unlikely the last. That got proven pretty quickly when I got to the unicorn pooping out a rainbow that appears to have ducks tripping on LSD or maybe just gently rolling on some Molly. I'm not necessarily a huge fan of adult supervision and I don't think anyone there is either as even the Sea Hag #nebco sticker that looks like it's one driver from being ready for a golf shirt looks more like instead of going to the 19th hole after a round you may be more in the mood to try to summon the Dark Lord Shakka in the woods behind Roger's farm where they once found all that blood, which honestly I've probably done after some of the heroic drinking sessions I've completed, so no judgement there. — December 12, 2019 · 8:40 AM UTC · post

So this one from @nutsnboltsbeer apparently the guy got ahold of @vikredistillery and asked Joel and Espen if they could draw whatever the hell they wanted and despite Emily's strong suggestions to keep it elephant themed the ayes won and he drew me a building. @drekkerbrewing drew two fantastic elephants. One took a geometric shape and has more of an origami feel to it and if I had my "marketing hat" on I'd use origami as some sort of a metaphor for limitless possibilities paper holds and then segue into an analogy about brewing having fundamentally simple ingredients like paper and similarly limitless possibilities. I'd make it sound all flowery. I love analogies because they start out with anal and end in "oh geez". The other elephant has some sort of giant flower attached much like other harnesses or banners have been attached to previous works.
