- So this showed up today and since they don't have social media I don't think that's even easier. I do like all this stuff. The stamp makes me think of @jakeandamirofficial #wherethewildthingsarent but anyways there's a few elephants and a @pokkapens with the ass chopped off of it and surgerized onto a cap to make a two assed #pokkapens for those who want more asses on their pen without going full Mephesto for five asses. They included two #lefthandednotebook which I assume is gonna be a pretty weak hashtag. This Sanford ink bottle is super duper old. Oh yeah the elephant appears to be blowing a raspberry out and taunting this alligator or perhaps crocodile. I don't usually try to do much fact check on these, but at a cursory glance this would be the kind of thing that seems implausible to me to occur in nature. - Okay so we established pretty early into this hobby that I'm the only one really crazy about pens. That hasn't stopped almost all my handwritten letters from mostly being about pens and ink, rather than beer or elephants which would make sense as I'm writing breweries to draw me an elephant. I try to keep my selfawareness pretty low and back to pens, here's the ones that are maybe passable priced low to high (high on top). The #300RT is ultimately a cheap ballpoint but has the "good pen" feel at low price. When cleaning out your pen drawer this pen would get spared. The #papermateprofile has a really lousy feel but it's unmistakably like a #pilotg2 and a lot people like that. I hate them like super passionate because it's Pilot and while this one is charming for being not Pilot I always hate it like that song #lastkiss that Pearl Jam does. Not that I don't think the PJ version is better, just an awful song. Anyways, #sharpiesgel is like 8¢ more than the shitty Profile so that's a no brainer and #pokkapens are more still. That brings me to the #inkjoygelpens that I want in Grey as my like ideal goal. As I said those absolutely don't exist as a single pen option. It's gonna be a big stretch that @paper_mate or @newellbrands will mess with it, but I have an @aaronrodgers12 #sharpie and they made a custom one for another dude but I don't like to talk about it. Last we have a #stackedcelluloid Italian made @lamy_official from like WW2 era. I'd never trade this for an elephant as you'll never see one like it, but I also wanted to just include a pen you'll never be able to own. - I gave away all my pens I won to people in their @pokkapens Facebook group in exchange for elephants. Everyone said they weren’t very good at art but would try their best. This is a totally valid move drawing someone else’s elephant and considering they also mailed stamps the whole thing cost me $1.05. It is basically two free elephants. You can’t just expect people to come up with two of their own original elephants for three pens. If you find that source of creative talent I’ll gladly reorder more pens. - I made a #googleform for me to give away some of these to the hardcore #pokkapens fans. If someone is interested in them on the Instagram side you can DM me and I’ll get you a link to the form. Obviously limited quantities available and I’m asking for elephant drawings back so if you’re not drawing elephants don’t fill the form or DM me, but also don’t DM me if you’re not drawing elephants anyways. - So I won the @pokkapens contest for their 25,000th order through some creative use of store mechanics. Some would call it an exploit but either way I committed myself to winning before the prize was even announced. The prize turned out to not be any of the stuff I wanted and instead was 100 custom pens. Since I didn’t have any use for the pens I had three ideas and ended up going with #drawmeanelephant instead of some other ideas I won’t share as they are not related to draw me an elephant. — July 20, 2020 · 7:27 AM UTC · post
